Work From Home, Scandinavian Style: Modern Home Office Desks + Accessories
Savor good design while you work with aesthetic yet functional home office desks, lighting, & accessories
Now more than ever, modern homes are designed to optimize every facet of life, from playful leisure time and a restful night’s sleep to focused work.
In your own home, you may have had to adapt a room––or the corner of a room––into a functional home office.
Regardless of your square footage, you can create a modern home office that works for you while preserving a clean, minimal, and Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic by investing in thoughtfully designed modern desks, accessories, and desk lighting.
Modern Home Office Desks
Feve Desk - Ferm Living
With an organic shape atop legs carved into stretched elliptical shapes, the name of the Feve Desk comes from the French word fève, which means bean. This elegant desk is made in solid FSC-certified European Walnut. It packs a lot of design into little space, making it the perfect desk for the “corner” home office. If your work grows out of the space, you can opt to use it as an entryway console or a vanity table!
Feve Desks will start shipping from Batten Home’s US-based warehouse December 2021. Order yours today to get on the list.
Eclipse Desk - MENU
Distinctive and daring, the Eclipse Desk is shaped from solid, dark-oiled oak that’s been polished to a shine finish. Additional storage and cable management hidden in the steel column provides a clean and neat working space. Created by Fred Rigby Studio, the Eclipse Desk originates from a hand-drawn line, resulting in a distinctive silhouette that adds a sense of drama to your workspace.
Eclipse Desks will start shipping from Batten Home’s US-based warehouse in late October 2021. Order yours today to get on the list.
Georg Desk - Skagerak
The solid oak Georg Desk is a Scandinavian design furniture staple. The Georg collection is known for its simple, solid construction that lasts for generations. If you’re looking for a desk with drawers, the Georg Desk has a single-drawer option that provides just enough space for your go-to office supplies.
Wall Mounted Desk - LAX Series by MASH Studios
We love the LAX Series Wall Mounted Desk that provides a compact yet productive space attached directly to a wall. With three convenient cubbies, quickly stow away and access whatever you need as you work. Notice the sliding aluminum panel, which can be creatively used to hide a specific cubby within the desk.

Journal Desk - Normann Copenhagen
Normann Copenhagen’s Journal Desk is functional down to the smallest detail. The integrated wire grommet is perfect for concealing wires, while a discreet steel drawer can be placed on the left or right side, depending on what works best for you. The simple frame is inspired by old French industrial furniture and is constructed from a combination of tubular steel and sheet steel with slightly outward sloping legs.

Arrange Desktop Series - MUUTO
MUUTO always brings new perspectives on accessories; the Arrange Desktop Series is the perfect embodiment of MUUTO’s design ethos. “We wanted to create a flexible system that allowed for us to organize things on a desk or shelf,” remarks the Switzerland based design studio Big Game. “A focal point in the design process was to make the design playful by encouraging the user to interact with it, using and reconfiguring the combination of trays, paired with an expression that is inspired by contemporary architecture.” The trays are made with 93% plastic with cork and aluminum lids. Arrange them however you choose!
Letter Tray - Ferm Living
Made with Birch plywood with a stained black or blue ash veneer, this minimal letter tray is simple and stackable. We recommend getting at least two to make use of vertical space on your desk.
Dania Letter Tray - Skagerak
Sort and organize your documents with Skagerak’s 3-level Dania Tray made with a beautiful natural Oak. We love how the tiers build upon each other like a small set of stairs.
Yama Desk Accessories - Ferm Living
The Yama collection is named after yama, the Japanese word for mountain. As you can see, the sculptural pieces is inspired by the wild, untamed landscape of a mountain range. Each piece is made from recycled casted aluminum with a rough, matte finish to contrast its curving silhouette.
The Yama Pencil Holder has 3 compartments at varying heights, perfect for different types of stationery. The Yama Cup easily holds anything you need. The Yama Holder is a perfect place for files and papers that you need on hand, while the Round and Oval Yama Trays can add further structure to your desktop.
Sandstone Desk Organizers - Kristina Dam Studio
Kristina Dam’s sculptural Sandstone Desk Organizers are another aesthetic way to bring structure to your workspace. The 3 individual items can be satisfyingly placed next to each other, or scattered across your desk or office space based on your needs. Like all of Kristina Dam’s items, each piece can serve as a sculptural element on its own without storing anything at all. Kristina Dam is Nordic minimalism at its finest!
Desk Sculptures - Kristina Dam Studio
This set of 4 Desk Sculptures may serve a purely aesthetic function on your desk, but they also invite you to arrange and rearrange them however you like. The varying shapes, materials, and textures allow you multiple ways to keep your hands occupied during video calls. The circular element can serve as a paperweight, while the marble triangle can serve as a bookend.
2x2 Organizer - Ferm Living
The 2x2 Organizer is yet another minimal and aesthetic desk organizer from Ferm Living. It comes in Black or Cashmere with stackable metal trays.
Tales of Wood Office Bin - Normann Copenhagen
Designed in 1984 by master cabinetmaker Bent G. Nielsen, the Tales of Wood Office Bin has its own tale to tell. Created with deep respect for the cabinetmaking craft., the idea started with Bent G. Nielsen wanting to create an office bin in molded wood with rounded corners. His son, Jan Nielsen, who is also a master cabinetmaker, made the molds required for production, thus bringing his father’s vision to life. This office bin honors the Denmark tradition of using molded wood for furniture. The manner in which the wood is cut to expose the grain perpetuates the designer's penchant for the natural material. In this way, Tales of Wood also tells the story of the year-long process from newly planted tree to finished design.
Nomad Box - Skagerak
Hide tiny office supplies or little trinkets with the solid Oak wood Nomad Box. The lid is fully removable and can even serve as a mini tray. There’s a matching tray, too, shown above for additional office supplies.
Modern Home Office Lighting
A good modern table lamp is the final touch for your modern home office space. While we’ve already shared some of our favorite modern table lamps, here are a few more worth perusing.
Yuh Table Lamp - Louis Poulsen
The Yuh Table Lamp is one of our favorites from the Louis Poulsen lighting collection. The name of the Yuh series is meant to represent the sound made when you say the word ‘you,’ which perfectly encompasses the personalized nature of the design that allows you to rotate, rise, and lower the lamp depending on what lighting you need.
Tip Table Lamp - MUUTO
One of many new perspectives on lighting from MUUTO, let’s learn about the Tip Table Lamp from its designer Jens Fager:
"Tip is a simplistic and friendly lamp featuring a characteristic architectural silhouette. During the design process, we focused on polishing every single detail, and the lamp’s functionality. I wanted to reduce the lamp’s design to the very essence of its purpose - intending to create a product that anyone would understand and be able to use in their daily lives. The molded aluminum material gives Tip a clean and precise look, highlighting its appearance of quality."
Snoopy Table Lamp - FLOS
“In FLOS, you can’t find a uniform design model, but rather a strong desire to make [a] design that can express broader meanings of the ‘sense of our time’, meanings that are often capable of adding cultural values even to expressions of taste,” said the talented Achille Castiglioni, who designed the Snoopy Table Lamp, one of many designer lighting options from FLOS.
Arum Table Lamp - Ferm Living
The Arum’s solid marble base and off-center structure makes it both a source of lighting and a sculptural work of art.
JWDA Metallic Table Lamp - MENU
With a polished brass base, this gorgeous table lamp from MENU is inspired by the glow emitted from traditional oil lamps. The elliptical opal glass shade emits an elegant, warm light controlled by a simple dial.
Phare LED Table Lamp - MENU
Designed for apartment no. 50 at Le Corbusier’s ‘Cité Radieuse’ in Marseille, the Phare Lamp’s aesthetic was centered on the idea to create a fully recyclable product that would become a versatile everyday companion; one that could correspond to the landmark’s style and improve its inhabitant’s daily comfort. Phare transforms into a daily companion that can be freely placed, hung, or taken outside as long as conditions are dry according to need. It’s the perfect lamp for the remote worker that can’t stay in one place for too long!
