Spanish Chair
Designed by Børge Mogensen in partnership with Fredericia in 1958, the iconic Spanish Chair showcases a solid oak or walnut frame paired with premium saddle leather. While traveling through Spain, Mogensen encountered an ornate chair with wide armrests, a design typical of medieval Spanish furniture. He modernized this traditional form by incorporating solid oak and saddle leather, tanned and tailored in a Swedish tannery that adheres to traditional organic methods. The wide armrests not only add to its distinctive look but also offer the perfect spot to rest a cup of coffee or a book, blending functionality with timeless design.
Canvas Chair
Designed by Børge Mogensen in 1970, the iconic Canvas Chair was one of the last pieces designed by Mogensen before he passed in 1972. True to its name, a quality linen canvas is used for the seat and the back, suspended and supported by the solid oak frame.
JG Folding Stool
A foldable stool is a staple in modern Scandinavian design, and the JG Folding Stool is an exceptional example. Designed Jørgen Gammelgaard, the JG Folding Stool is celebrated for its clever folding mechanism, high-quality materials and craftsmanship, and multi-functional approach. The base is made from stainless steel with a leather or linen canvas seat.
PATO
The PATO chair series was designed by Welling and Ludvik with an intention to keep the use of materials as clean and recyclable as possible, so that components of the chair can be recycled in the future as needed. The result is a series of chairs based around a 100% recycled polypropylene shell. We offer the PATO Chair with a wood base, sledge base, or a 4-legged base that allows the chairs to be stacked.
Trinidad
While traveling through Trinidad, Nanna Ditzel was inspired by the elaborate fretwork found on Gingerbread Facades, and wished to replicate the fretwork in the chair design itself. The result is a molded plywood chair that plays with light and shadows with the cut-outs on the seat and back. "A chair is for sitting in, but it also expresses age, eroticism, essence, human feelings, and dreams," remarks designer Nanna Ditzel, upon the introduction in 1994. "While functionality must naturally be preserved, for me, chairs have increasingly become attempts to meet the challenge thrown down by all these other elements."
Mogensen J39 Chair
Introduced in 1947, the J39 Mogensen Chair, often referred to as the "People's Chair," has become a design icon celebrated for its minimalist aesthetic and robust craftsmanship. Designed to endure for generations, the J39 earned its nickname due to its widespread appeal and lasting popularity in Scandinavian homes, and it can also be found in public spaces worldwide, including the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the School of Architecture. Mogensen created the J39 by simplifying Kaare Klint's 1936 Church Chair, streamlining its design with a single gently curved backrest and fully vertical legs, resulting in a chair with perfect proportions and exceptional comfort. As Rasmus Graversen, CEO of Fredericia and the third generation of the Graversen family, notes, “When you look at the J39, you might not see a very elaborate design piece at first sight, but looking closer, you can see how the proportions and the details make up a very considered design."
Gallery Stool
Since its introduction in 1998, the Gallery Stool is considered an iconic design that pushes the limits of molded plywood. We love its striking simplicity made from a single mold of plywood. The Gallery Stool comes in a walnut lacquered or black ash finish.
Yksi Chair
Made with oak, the sturdy and elegant Yksi chair is the result of a collaboration with design duo Thau & Kallio. Known for combining artisanal design with cutting-edge production techniques, Yski comes in a black lacquered oak or natural lacquered oak finish.
