Notable Side Tables & Coffee Tables
Now, let’s walk through some of Normann Copenhagen’s most popular side tables and coffee tables.
Designed by MSDS Studio for Normann Copenhagen, the Stock Table is a very architectural little side table using the most elementary steel stock parts as their starting point––hence the name. The design presents metal in a raw and deconstructed way while retaining a delicate, rigid quality. The table’s unconventional leg arrangement emphasizes the material’s strength and produces an interesting composition of elements. The aesthetic negative spaces – the airy open area under the tabletop and the triangle between the angled legs – come from disregarding the traditional arrangement of table legs, creating a new form of symmetry.
The Stock Table appears as a small, strict piece of sculpture, which also serves as a practical, stable side table. The table comes in four colors, each supplementing its unique character in a different way: a warm, rounded claret and a calm steel blue, as well as classic black and white.
Different kinds of decor require different types of tables, which is why Normann Copenhagen introduced the Small and Large Stay Table. These multifunctional tables are easy to use in your home in numerous different ways. The leaves, stones and plants of nature itself inspired the shape of the Stay Table. The round and soft shapes of the table are a fine contrast to the flat and hard steel, giving it both an organic and industrial look. The practical, built-in shelf is perfect for storing magazines, books, design objects or toys. Use it as a coffee table, bedside table or as a little sideboard in the office.
The Bit Stool has countless possibilities for your home. This aesthetically pleasing, versatile stool can be used as a pedestal for a floral arrangement, a side table for a lamp, or as impromptu seating for that unexpected dinner guest. Inspired by clear-cut shapes such as monoliths and columns, designer Simon Legald’s take on the stool is both bold and multifunctional. The Bit Stool's straightforward, utilitarian look is contrasted by the pixelated surface made up of ‘bits’ of 100% recycled household and industrial plastic. The plastic fragments are heated to a very high melting point that allows you to reuse and reheat it without altering its properties, resulting in a stool that has a distinctive thickness and composition. This makes every single Bit Stool a bit unique! With four captivating color combinations and multiple shapes, there’s a Bit Stool for everyone. Go for black and white to keep it subtle, or multicolored or mottle gray for a stand-out look. With its playful shape and fascinating array of hues, the Bit Stool will bring a sense of personality to any setting. Plus, there’s a Bit Coffee Table, too!
The Block Table is ready to roll wherever you need it. This best-selling and versatile mobile side table is on its way to being considered a modern design classic. The Block Table has a functional and charming design that can work anywhere in your home. Move it around with the handles, designed to be a natural extension of the table legs. The rounded shape, contrasting materials, and perfect combination of craft and industry gives a unique expression within designer Simon Legald’s signature style. Use it as a side table or serving trolley, switching up the look whenever you want!
Nicholai Wiig Hansen’s Tablo Table unites function and aesthetics in one simple piece. The name Tablo refers to the English 'table' and the French 'tableau', the latter meaning a scenic yet organized arrangement. Tablo is quick and easy to assemble––no screws are needed. “For me, it is paramount that function, materials and aesthetics all come together, says Tablo Table designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen. “The design needs to both be useful and solve a basic need - without compromising the visual expression. Being easy to assemble is therefore part of Tablo's function.”
With its voluminous octangular foot, the Pine Tables can lend prominence and vigor to any room. Its weighty body is gently opposed by the tabletop’s narrow, rounded edge frame, adding a visual lightness to the solid wooden design. The wood is presented in its natural form, or with a coloured wood stain, which allows the grain to show through. All versions are finished with a protective matte varnish.
“In furniture design Pine has been a forgotten wood variety for quite some time. That is a pity, because pine is certainly not without its qualities,” says Simon Legald about his Pine Table design for Normann Copenhagen. “For me, the wood’s fiery growth rings and characteristic aroma represent Nordic soul and warmth. Not least, it makes a lot of sense to use a material that can be found locally in large quantities.” With two sizes and multiple finishes, the Pine Table can be used as a side table or coffee table.
